Dear Parents,
Couple of updates that we want to make you aware of!
* We have cancelled rehearsal for tomorrow, Friday, August 10th! Enjoy the long weekend!
* Attention Freshmen! We are aware that your Freshmen orientation has a time conflict with our dress rehearsal on August 20th. Mr. Vrabel has made accommodations for the Freshmen Band members. They will hold Freshmen orientation for our Band members on Friday, August 17 at 12:15 PM. Students, please make arrangements to attend this meeting! All of the information being discussed Monday night will be discussed and reviewed at this meeting. Parents are welcome to attend with their kids, but if you are unable to attend the Friday meeting, you are still more than welcome to attend the Monday meeting.
* We will also be holding our Band Aides meeting on Monday, August 20. We will be starting the general meeting at 6:00 PM (changed from the usual 7:00 PM start) so that there won't be a conflict with those parents who will need to attend the Orientation meeting. The Exec Board meeting will be held immediately following the general meeting!
* The Band Aides are requesting your help! If you have not yet turned in your slip to sell the Band Community Discount Cards, please do so soon. Slips are available in the band room! Fundraisers like this provide the needed money to support the band during the year. And if you have already sold your cards, a huge THANK YOU to you! As always, if you'd like to sell more, please contact Mrs. Brookover at

Picture Day Date Adjustment

An adjustment had to be made for our scheduled Band Photo. The new date for our band photo will be on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 (rain date, August 9). For those involved in sports team try-outs, the photographer will be available for your individual shots at 7:30 AM, arrive by 7:15 to get into your uniform. All other band members should arrive for the scheduled 8:00 AM time. Section and all other individual shots will be taken after the group photo is done. Thank you for understanding!
Order forms will be available on Monday or Tuesday at band practice! Look for them from your band member! :)

Updated Updated Band Camp Memo

As I was studying the Mapquest Map, I noticed that the exit #'s have been converted to the mileage points. According to the original directions, you were told to exit I-79 at Exit 31, Rt. 208 (Grove City Outlet Mall exit). The new exit number for this exit (Grove City Outlet Mall) is now 113. But as I stated below, we are SUGGESTING that you continue south on I-79 to Exit 105 which is Route 108 East to the center of Slippery Rock. Hang a right on to Rt. 173 South. At the edge of campus, turn left on to Keister Rd. Old Thompson Field is visible from Keister. Please print the attached map and bring it with you when you come to visit us at camp. Mr. Hoefler loves chocolate chip cookies!! :)

Thank you for coming to our meeting last night! I hope a lot of your questions were answered. Hopefully the following info will answer any new questions you may have!
Some love to use their GPS systems to get them to their destinations. Slippery Rock's actual address is:

The Directions published in our Band Camp Packet are correct! But there is one adjustment that we are SUGGESTING: As you head south on I-79, it has been suggested (due to construction) to pass Exit 113 and continue south (one more exit) to Exit 105, Rt. 108 and proceed east to the center of Slippery Rock. Turn Right on Rt. 173 (south) and then proceed to turn left on Keister Rd.
Attached is the newest map for SRU's campus. We will be staying in Bldg B (41B), Eating at Boozel Hall (37), indoor rehearsal in Swope Hall (43), and outdoor field rehearsal on Old Thompson Field (29).
Reminder, debit card money must be given to the senior store before we leave Nordonia! Checks written to Nordonia Band Aides are preferred.
